Air source heat pumps
Air source heat pumps are a great match to the UK’s relatively mild climate and achieve a high level of performance even at low ambient temperatures. But not all air source heat pumps are created equal, there are any number of design considerations that need to be understood to ensure that your system provides effective heating all year round.
The team at South West Energy, have, over many years built up the experience and expertise needed to select and install the correct package.
Their compact design and simple installation mean they can be used for almost any new build or retro fit application.
We offer equipment as approved installation and service partners for; Mitsubishi, Dimplex, Samsung, Daikin, Thermia, Danfoss, Carrier, Clivet and Climaveneta.
Is an Air Source Heat Pump suitable?
Air source heat pumps are one of the most efficient way of producing heating and hot water and originally designed back in the 1970’s to heat swimming pools. A well designed system will provide a COP of 3. Meaning 1kW of electrical is used to generate 3kW of useful heat. An air source heat pump can be sited almost anywhere (up to 30m away from the property). Modern heat pumps are exceptionally quiet and we can dismiss the myth they are noisy as many manufactures including Mitsubishi have been awarded the Quiet Mark by the Noise Abatement Society.
As Air Source Heat Pumps can be specified as medium or high temperature they can be applied to almost any type of emitter circuit ; radiators, under floor, fan coils and radiant panels.
Most Air Source Heat Pumps are reversible meaning they can provide active cooling to fan coils or chilled beams.
Air Source Heat Pumps can efficiently produce medium or high temperature hot water for sanitary use.
Air Source Heat Pumps can be easily integrated in to a bivalent heating system with alternative heat sources such as; Gas boilers, oil boilers, biomass . Alternatively a solar thermal or solar PV system can supplement hot water production.
Air Source Heat Pumps can be managed locally by the heat pump manager or integrated in to a billing management system using a variety of protocols; Bacnet, Lontalk, Trend.
